MODERNARTIST PatronsJim Murphy barnstorms the country with an on-going series of portraits on canvas featuring ELTON JOHN. These paintings portray, in intensely dramatic fashion, the legendary performer in all phases of his unparallelled career, and are rendered with seminal passion by the MODARTIST, Eric-Scott Bloom. These celebratory canvases are travelled to many of Elton's seemingly endless array of concert performances and other specialized events, and presented to the performer by Jim, in hopes of obtaining Elton's understandably coveted signature, which then becomes––in the opinion of the painter, his patrons, and most Elton admirers alike––an integral aspect of the artwork's collectibility and inherent value, both in terms of the marketplace, and on the diverse emotional levels which often guide the seriously devoted Elton admirer.

Elton

In this exclusive behind (literally)–the–scenes photograph, we get a vivid concept of what happens when Elton breaks between songs to intimately meet and greet his adoring fans. The festival–like atmosphere never fails to ensue. For these Elton faithful, moments like this stay with them a lifetime. For those who know of Bloom patron and Elton afficianado Murphy, he can be recognized as the [only] gentleman just a few feet from Elton's right (the brother in the cap, right behind the over-sized yellow faux record LP), holding up the plainly visible portrait of Elton on canvas; the Bloom original, Elton–Up Close, which Elton himself is about to autograph...

As with any of our Celebrity Portraits which are autographed by the featured subject and purchased, a portion of the proceeds will be provided to that person's charitable cause of choice. In the
case of the Elton Portraits, this will be his
Worldwide AIDS Foundation.
“We at MODERNARTIST are genuinely proud to announce that as of early June, 2000, we have given EJ's AIDS Foundation half the proceeds resulting from the sale of two of our autographed Elton portraits––a total of $4750––in loving memory of Eric–Scott's late cousin and friend, Professor of History & Architectural Science, Paul Marx, of Harvard University, who lost his young, brilliant, and incredibly warm and generous life to AIDS, in 1989. We are committed to making many more substantial gifts to this dynamic and essential cause in the coming months,
and to continually do so in fond memory
of those souls taken well before their time.

“We would also like to extend our profound thanks to
Mr. Will Rhodes; Special Events Coordinator of The Foundation, for his timely cooperation and extremely supportive and kind words of encouragement. We look forward with great enthusiasm to furthering our professional relationship, and hopefully, thereby opening up new doors and avenues in our quest to use Eric's grand artistic vision to directly assist Elton John, and so many other especially devoted individuals, in the struggle to eradicate HIV/AIDS, and other fractious plagues threatening
our collective humanity.”
